APPRECIATING OUR COMMUNITY

Appreciating our Community

Since our topic today is community-based research, which means getting to know our community or the place where we sleep or build our house, I learnt a lot this quarter. We were given tasks to identify or research our community, which was beneficial to me because, despite the fact that I grew up here and continue to live here, I will acknowledge and admit that I still know very little about our town.

I also learned a lot about our place's history through the tasks we were given, such as how our community got its name, if it was conquered by the Spaniards, what happened here in ancient times, what are the religious beliefs, food products, places to visit, the history of barangays and sitios, and much more. Also as a result of doing so, I developed a fascination or interest in learning more about what is important to know in our area, which has aided me in conducting this research appropriately, pleasantly, and with love in my heart.  I've also learned the issues and important topics I write about on our blogs, and as a result, I'm better prepared to share or express my opinions on these.

I encountered some difficulties while conducting my Community Based Research work, such as being unable to locate websites for my community, but this was mitigated by the fact that I already knew something about our community and the questions I posed. I had the data to include in my research due of my family and other residents, and I was able to correctly accomplish my tasks given to us because of their support and cooperation.

Moving on, I will apply what I've learned this quarter to my future plans and to help other students who live in our community by providing them with information about our town. Also, because I am confident that we will do more on the research paper and our community in the future, I will be able to use it for the following semester. As a result, my knowledge of our topic this quarter will be sharpened. I will use the knowledge I have obtained and learnt in the future for only beneficial purposes; I will also include assisting other students in our community and using my voice effectively for them.
