Viva Vigan, Keep up the fun
Viva Vigan, Keep up the fun🐎
In late
January, the Vigan celebrates City Fiesta and Longganisa Festival is included
in the festive program. It's normally celebrated around January 22nd to
January 25th—the dates vary from year to year. During the festival, every
tourist has a chance to try authentic longganisa from Vigan. These events
have been going on for a long time, notably the annual tradition. We host
street dancing festivals, cooking shows/festivals, carnival, beauty contests,
fun runs, and other events to celebrate the Vigan City Fiesta Celebration, and
we have a lot of fun doing it. However, in our current condition, the major
problem has spread around the world, and we are dealing with a disease virus.
It's tough for us to celebrate the fiesta because of this disease, especially
when we can't get together or the areas are packed, and the number of Covid-19
cases is on the rise again this year. So, in the New Normal, I'm sure we'll
have a difficult time celebrating the Vigan City Fiesta.
Since we are used to celebrate
the Vigan City Fiesta that people watch together and celebrate it by watching
street dancing and so on people will really be sad. So now, if we celebrate it
into New Normal it will not be the same as before. It will reduce the number of
events that take place and reduce the number of people who will interact with
it. We will have challenges to do this, just like innovating in celebrating the
fiesta, preparing about it through virtual and so on. But we can’t stop the Ilocano’s
especially the Bigueños from celebrating fiesta dahl we can do it virtually.
The new normal has significantly changed Filipinos' daily lives. If we used to enjoy going out and seeing our relatives, we can no longer do so. Because of the epidemic, we can no longer attend parties or other gatherings, whereas before the pandemic, we used to celebrate fiestas, and in our daily life, we now need to wear masks whenever we go out or are in a busy place. That's how our lives were affected by the new normal. We have various possibilities to make or celebrate the Fiesta, as they say, if we want there is a way and if we don't there is a reason. Just like the Kannawidan Pageants, we can do this by performing by the candidates who are themselves and the audience can watch through live on social media. It may not be the same as before but it will still be fun for the Bigueños and for the Ilocano’s.

It is sad because many events were cancelled due to the virus and many vigan residents will not be able to watch some parades and different dances in the city
